Severe COVID-19 has been linked with molecular signs of brain aging and the researchers say people who have recovered from COVID-19 should be monitored for signs of cognitive decline. The researchers examined the brain tissue of 54 people during postmortem including samples from 21 people with severe COVID-19. They found people with COVID-19 had changes in the way genes were turned on and off which are normally associated with aging.
