Promptly popping aspirin may be a life-saver for moderate COVID-19 patients

Publicly released:
International

People who took aspirin on their first day in hospital had lower odds of dying within a month than those who didn’t take aspirin, in a study of 112,269 Americans with moderate COVID-19. The relative reduction in death risk linked to aspirin was 13.6 per cent, and the effect was strongest among people older than 60, and those with health conditions. According to the authors, these findings warrant further study with a randomised clinical trial to establish whether or not the apparent link is causal.
