COVID-19 immunity after vaccination appears to wane at a much slower rate for those who have also recovered from COVID-19, according to international research. The team followed COVID-19 rates among 35,000 UK healthcare workers, 27 per cent of whom had already had COVID-19. While the researchers say immunity against infection waned significantly for those who received Pfizer, those who received AstraZeneca and those who were unvaccinated but had been previously infected with COVID-19, they say immunity remained consistently above 90 per cent for those who had COVID-19 and then were subsequently vaccinated, with immunity remaining at that level up to 18 months after their infection.
