Multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C), a rare condition found in children after COVID-19 infection, has become even more rare in the Omicron era, according to Danish data. The team looked at Danish pediatric records to compare the rates of MIS-C in children under 18 with rates from earlier in the pandemic. They say the rates of MIC-C after COVID-19 were substantially lower during the Omicron-dominant period of early 2022, even among unvaccinated children. Among 583,617 children who were infected during the study period, one vaccinated child and 11 unvaccinated children were diagnosed with MIS-C, and no children developed the condition after a COVID-19 reinfection.
