The Polypill, a type of heart treatment that combines fixed doses of multiple treatments together, can substantially reduce the risk of serious heart issues, according to an international meta-analysis. Researchers looked at the results of large randomised control trials of the Polypill to look at its effectiveness and whether aspirin should be one of the drugs included. They found Polypills containing aspirin approximately halved the risk of stroke, heart attacks, death from a heart condition and major heart surgery compared to those given placebo treatment. The researchers conclude the Polypill is an effective treatment, and aspirin is a useful inclusion.
