A pilot program in North Carolina where people were paid $25 to either get their Covid-19 vaccine or drive someone to their appointment, has shown promise for stemming the declining vaccination rates in the US state. The payments especially encouraged more low-income people and elderly to show up to vaccination clinics. The researchers say payments could encourage more equitable vaccination rates, and may lead to more people encouraging their vaccine-hesitant friends and family to get the jab.
