Parents may often make measurement errors when preparing formula for their babies, according to a small US study. The researchers recruited a diverse group of 84 infant caregivers in the US, and asked them to prepare several baby formula products, with the amount of powder and water they used measured by the team for accuracy. The researchers say just over a third of the time, the participants made a measurement error of over 10%, with participants almost as likely to make a mistake with or without a simulated crying baby present. The researchers say both over- and under-diluting baby formula can come with health risks, so some parents may benefit from extra help in learning to prepare baby formula.
