*NEWS BRIEFING: Wed 01 Sep 2021 at 10:00 AEST ONLINE* After the release of the IPCC's most recent climate report, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said "technology not taxes" was the Australian way of solving the climate crisis. But what is that technology and what policies are needed to make net-zero emissions a reality?

The Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE) is set to release a position statement called "Australia’s technology-led transition to net zero emissions" which suggests Australia has the potential to be a world leader in renewable energy generation, low-emission and negative emission technologies.

They are calling on the Federal government to announce immediate and decisive action to reduce Australia's greenhouse gas emissions.

The briefing will discuss the upcoming position statement from ATSE, currently available technology to meet a net-zero goal and what policies are needed
