Pooled results of three trials suggest that the risks of serious side effects in kids aged 5-11 who receive the Pfizer vaccine are low and on par with those who receive the placebo. The results also show that two doses of mRNA vaccines effectively prevented the occurrence of COVID-19 - although all studies were conducted before the Omicron variant was circulating. No cases of severe COVID-19, multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, or death were reported. The authors say their findings provide support for the use of mRNA vaccines against COVID-19 in children and adolescents.
