Mistletoe plants suffered widespread die-off during Australia's most recent drought and it spells bad news for our woodland birds, according to new research from The Australian National University (ANU). According to lead author of the study Dr Ross Crates, the parasitic plants are crucial to the survival of birds during times of drought when other food sources like eucalypt nectar and insects are scarce.
