Less than half of Victorian community pharmacies stock naloxone, with even fewer actually supplying it in the year prior to the survey, according to Australian research. The researchers surveyed 265 pharmacies, mostly based in Melbourne, and found that only 100 stocked the opioid overdose-reversing drug, naloxone, and of those 100, a third had not dispensed it in the previous year.  The researchers say future efforts are needed to increase the number of pharmacies that stock and supply naloxone, whilst also addressing barriers such as a lack of confidence to supply naloxone.
