A team has reviewed the diverse farming changes that have created highly-productive grasslands in NZ. Research and development discoveries have helped facilitate production, along with strong education and agribusiness systems. Crucial to success, the team says, is farmers’ ability to adapt and adopt fresh ideas and technologies into their farming. The authors say science is key to inform on the environmental impacts of pasture production, and to find the right technological advances for the future. They stress that transparency and consistent government research funding will be critical.
