Japanese scientists say maintaining a high level of moderate to vigorous physical activity may help ward off disabling dementia in men. They looked at questionnaires about physical activity completed by nearly 44,000 people aged 50-79 with available follow-up data on disabling dementia. They found a higher level of leisure-time and moderate to vigorous physical activity was linked with decreased risk of disabling dementia in men, although the same effect was not seen among women.
