Prescriptions for the combination of ivermectin with another group of drugs called benzimidazoles have soared after Joe Rogan's podcast (The Joe Rogan Experience) promoted the combination as a cancer treatment, according to US data. The researchers say the podcast, in which celebrities endorsed the combination of ivermectin-benzimidazoles for cancer, was aired in January 2025 and has been viewed by more than 60 million people. The podcast endorsement coincided with a doubling of prescription rates in the first six months of 2025 compared to the first six months of the previous year, and the authors say that the podcast audience is reflected in the demographics of the groups with the highest prescribing rates.
