Illicit drug use is higher among the LGBTQA community in Australia than the general population, according to a survey by Aussie researchers. The team asked about 6000 young LGBTQA Australians about their drug use, and found one in four participants aged 14-17 reported drug use and two in five aged 18-21 reported drug use. 28.3% reported using cannabis, and MDMA was the second most popular at 7.1%. The researchers say cisgender men, and those who had experienced recent homelessness or sexual harassment, were more likely to report illicit drug use.
