Interactive video gaming could work better than conventional exercises for preserving memory in older people, according to Australian and international researchers. 45 people from South African retirement homes with memory complaints were separated into two groups for three months, with one group given Xbox Kinect Sports to play and the other given a conventional exercise program. At the end of the study, the video gaming group improved significantly more than the conventional exercise group when undergoing tests for fitness, functional ability and cognitive performance.
