Would a rose by any other nose smell as sweet? Well, international researchers say yes, but there's likely more to it. The team tested 15 odour samples with 582 individuals from across the globe, including groups that are far removed from industrialised populations. They found considerable similarities in how people rated the smells, but they believe that the availability of scents in a person's environment or culture has an undeniable effect on what stinks we find pleasant and what give us the icks.
