A UniSA program aimed at improving veteran wellbeing through sport has received positive feedback from its participants, according to a survey. The Invictus Pathways program draws on the philosophy of the Invictus Games - an international sporting tournament for veterans - to not only train Australian veterans to participate in the Games but also promote recovery and wellbeing for all veterans through physical activity. The researchers interviewed 15 participants of the program who had not participated in the Games, all who showed signs of high psychological distress. The participants told the researchers that the program had improved their physical fitness and social engagement, and they intended to continue being physically active after the program.
