Inductions on the rise for Aussie pregnancies

Publicly released:
Australia; QLD

More Australian women are having their labour induced, according to an analysis of births in South-East Queensland. The study found that the proportion of women undergoing an induction increased from 29.8 per cent in 2015 to 33.4 per cent in 2019. The research also found the reasons for the inductions were changing, with more women induced for elective reasons and for decreased fetal movements (DFM), while fewer are being induced for being past their due date.
