Since the US city of Houston introduced Uber, there have been fewer car crash injuries during the peak hours of Friday and Saturday nights. Researchers compared hospital data and impaired driving convictions from 2007 with data gathered after the introduction of Uber in 2014. As rideshare use increased after that date, motor vehicle injuries decreased. During peak Friday and Saturday times of 9pm to 3am, average car crash injuries between 2014-2019 decreased by 23.8 per cent compared to 2007 statistics.
