How much exercise should a child or teen be doing after a concussion?

Children and teens should target up to four hours of moderate to vigorous exercise in the week after a concussion and up to 9.5 hours in the first two weeks, according to international researchers who say this exercise can help reduce post-concussion symptoms. The researchers compared self-reported symptom data and accelerometer-based exercise data from just over 250 young people after a concussion. They say exercising for up to 259 minutes in the first week and up to 565 minutes across the first two weeks was associated with fewer lingering concussion symptoms, however exercising beyond those time thresholds appeared to have no further benefit.
