The setting and timing of women's rugby 7 games can influence the players' performance, with Australian research finding that coaches should prepare for faster games played in warmer weather conditions, played later in the day, during first halves,  and on day one of tournaments. The researchers also found there was faster gameplay if a match was played with or against more international-level players, if it was played with two teams close in the standings, or if the game had a close result.
