Waikato researchers looked at how the urban agriculture movement is playing out in New Zealand’s four biggest cities, and found that planning regulations are failing to pay specific attention to urban agriculture, or acknowledge its potential to “re-nature” the city and support food sovereignty. The research team says cities should clarify how they’ll allow for urban farms to create greater certainty, and that this issue is especially urgent due to Te Tiriti obligations.
