NZ researchers conducted hui and interviews with a small group of caregivers of people living with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), health workers, and researchers to understand what their priorities are in terms of future research. The most important and relevant priority for participants was understanding what we can do to encourage success for people with FASD throughout their lives. The author team says this reflects a need for more research that responds to their needs and can help provide support, rather than just identifying the difficulties people with FASD experience. They also write that NZ needs more research focusing on FASD for Māori within a Te Ao Māori view.
