A new Motu working paper reviews greenhouse gas emissions and climate change mitigation data and models used in Aotearoa New Zealand. They found modelling capacity is sufficient for some sectors – such as energy, transport and agricultural land use - while other sectors like construction and waste need to build capacity. The author team recommends that government agencies and the wider NZ climate change modelling community figure out how they want to share data for better collaboration.
