High-risk alcohol drinkers are using online delivery services to get drinks more often and are more frequently ordering same-day delivery to keep a session going, according to Australian researchers who say the convenience of online alcohol delivery is potentially undermining policy efforts to reduce drinking. The team surveyed 465 WA adults who had used an online alcohol delivery service within the past six months, and found respondents who were high risk drinkers were more likely to make frequent purchases, buy through specialised online-only businesses, and receive deliveries while drunk. The researchers say these high risk drinkers were also likely to be exposed to more advertising for alcohol home delivery.
