The risk of heart failure, heart attack and stroke in people with obesity reduces after bariatric surgery, according to international research. The team matched nearly 100,000 bariatric surgery recipients in the US with people of similar obesity levels who did not have the surgery, and followed up on heart problems over four years. They say those in the bariatric surgery group had a lower risk of death and heart problems.
