Heart conditions taking Australians out of the workforce early

Publicly released:
Australia; ACT

Australians over 45 are more likely to drop out of the workforce early if they have heart problems, according to Aussie researchers. Data from a previous survey of 163,562 Australians between the ages of 45 and 64 was linked to hospitalisation data to find participants with heart problems. The team found those with heart problems were nearly twice as likely to be out of the workforce, with two-in-five participants with heart problems no longer working and just over one-in-five without heart problems not working.
