UK research has revealed that higher rates of gambling are linked to an increased likelihood of unemployment, lonelier lifestyles, and significantly higher mortality among the heaviest gamblers. The research team pooled data from over 6 million people, spanning up to seven years. The authors warn people can rapidly fall into higher levels of gambling, and more should be done to protect gamblers of all levels from potential harms.
