For people who smoke, early stage melanomas are more likely to become deadly

People with stage I and II melanoma who smoke are at higher risk of dying from their melanoma than those who don't smoke or who have already quit, according to Australian research. The study found that patients who smoked at the time of melanoma diagnosis had a significantly increased risk of death due to melanoma, with some having doubled risk of death from melanoma.
