Footy players wearing bigger numbers on their shirts may make them seem physically larger, according to international researchers. In the study, the team showed AI-generated images of American football players to participants and asked them to rate the 'slenderness' of each player on an analog scale. The same player was presented twice throughout the experiment, once with a low number and once with a high number. They found that athletes wearing small jersey numbers were seen as being more slender than those with high numbers.
