Fitness games could help get new mums moving

Fitness games might help new mums with a high risk of heart disease to move more, according to international researchers. The team recruited 127 new mums who had pregnancy complications, and gave them wearable step trackers and sent daily text reminders. 63 of them were also placed in virtual teams and enrolled in a game with points and levels for daily step goal achievement. After 12 weeks, the new mums in the 'gamified' program achieved their step goals more often than those who just received the text reminders.
