If you've already had COVID, getting vaccinated can help stop you from catching it again, cutting your risk of reinfection in half, according to a US study. The study found that people who had their first lot of vaccines after recovering from COVID-19 got 62% better protection from reinfection. When they specifically looked at residents and employees of aged care homes, the levels of protection were slightly lower at 49% and 47% respectively. The study was conducted during periods when the wild type, Alpha, and Delta strains were dominant.
