Day-care attendance is associated with a reduced risk of type 1 diabetes, according to a systematic review and meta-analysis of 22 observational studies of over 100,500 participants. The researchers say increased contact with microbes in children attending day-care compared with children who do not attend day-care may explain their findings, however, further studies are needed to confirm the proposed association.
