Finnish researchers suggest a speed cap and a restriction on the use of shared e-scooters over the weekend leads to fewer injuries for the riders. The team compared the amount of injuries sustained on scooters before and after restrictions were applied. They say when the daytime speed limit of 25 km/h was reduced to 20 km/h, along with shared e-scooters being prohibited on Friday and Saturday nights between 12 AM and 5 AM, and night-time speeds between 12 AM and 5 AM from Sunday to Thursday being slowed down to 15 km/h, the rates of injuries for every 100,000 rides dropped from 19 to 9.
