Nearly a third of a group of US hospital patients who had tuberculosis and COVID-19 at the same time died, according to international researchers. The team looked at patients with TB in New York City between 2020 and 2022, and compared the outcomes for those who also developed COVID-19 and those who didn't. They say 22 of the 70 patients over 45 years old who had both diseases died, a fatality rate well over double that of the TB patients who didn't have COVID-19.
