A self-determination approach is vital for the recovery of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a collaborative working party. A group of Aboriginal academics, wellbeing and health experts, community health organisations and elders have put together a framework for recovery from the mental health, social and economic impacts of the virus. The group say an Indigenous-led approach is the most important thing, with funding required to develop the necessary workforce and infrastructure to effectively provide health and other services in communities that need it.
