Early Respiratory Infection Burden and Atopic Dermatitis in Childhood
Are early-life infections associated with atopic dermatitis (AD) development in childhood? In this cohort study of 2 independent Danish and US birth cohorts of children aged 0 to 10 years, the number of infections in early life was associated with an increased risk of AD development until age 10 years. Results of this study suggest that early-childhood respiratory infection burden is associated with a higher risk of AD in a dose-dependent manner.
