Childhood obesity increased during and after COVID-19 restrictions

Childhood obesity, especially among US children aged 5 to 11 years, was significantly higher after COVID-19 restrictions were imposed, new research suggests. The study also found the obesity levels persisted for multiple reasons after restrictions were removed in 2021. However, the authors acknowledge that the study only looked at one US county, so may not apply to other populations.
