Corporal punishment of children is legal in the home and some other settings in Australia, and an expert argues that states and territories ought to repeal legislation that permits smacking, hitting, or slapping of children, and instead should insert a positive statement into civil laws that corporal punishment is no longer acceptable as a disciplinary measure.
