New research has revealed that almost 3 out of 4 elite female athletes experience body image issues in Aotearoa New Zealand, with 15 per cent reporting disordered eating. A survey of over 200 athletes exposed a range of health issues, particularly among those who play individual rather than team sports. The authors say more support and information about health is needed to boost the wellbeing and performance of our top female athletes.
