People who are genetically predisposed to having higher blood pressure and cholesterol levels have a higher risk of coronary heart disease, regardless of their age, according to Aussie-led research. The study found that having high blood pressure and cholesterol before you reach your mid-50s is linked to an increased risk of coronary heart disease, even if you manage to lower your blood pressure and cholesterol levels later in life. The researchers say this shows the importance of controlling blood pressure and cholesterol early in life.
