BACKGROUND BRIEFING: Australia's problem with intimate partner violence

Data from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare say one in four women and one in 14 men have experienced physical and/or sexual violence from an intimate partner since the age of 15 in Australia, as well as nearly a quarter of women and 14% of men having reported experiencing emotional abuse by a current or previous partner. Additionally, Australia's Sexual Discrimination Commissioner Dr Anna Cody has recently come out saying rates of violence against women are going up. Join us for this online briefing to hear from experts in intimate partner violence to find out what research is being done into the situation, and how we can best help those affected.
