Around 60% of young people leaving care in Victoria between 2013 and 2014, ended up homeless by 2018, according to Australian research. The study looked at 1,848 young people aged 15-18 who left care and found a high risk of homelessness in this population, especially among those with mental health disorders. They found that having both mental health issues and a history of substance use was the most significant predictor of homelessness.
