The children of mothers with diabetes during pregnancy may be more likely to develop psychiatric disorders during the first 40 years of life, according to an international study of 2.4 million live births in Denmark between 1978 and 2016. The study found that diabetes during pregnancy was associated with increased risks for schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, intellectual disabilities, developmental disorders, and behavioural disorders. The team found no link to substance use disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders, or personality disorders, however.
