International researchers have scanned through COVID-19 cases in the US and found that close to 1 in 6 cases ended up becoming long COVID. The researchers investigated close to 458,000 patients with COVID-19 across 58 hospitals, and say they found long COVID in 16.28% of the cases. On top of this, the team also say close to 90% of these long COVID cases were representative of chronic conditions - meaning that nine in ten people with the condition had it for extended periods of time, usually six months or longer.
