Since the Android Earthquake Alerts system first rolled out in New Zealand and Greece in 2021, it has become available in 98 countries and sent over 1200 alerts. In a survey conducted by researchers from Google (which created the alert system), 36% of over 1.5 million respondents said they received the alert before noticing tremors, 28% were alerted during the event and 23% got the message after the shaking occurred. In addition, 84% said they would trust the system more next time.
