After a lockdown high school attendance rates dropped for the most disadvantaged kids

Following the 'relatively short' lockdown in Tasmania in 2020, high school attendance rates dropped among year 10 and 11 kids from more socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, but not for their more affluent peers, according to Australian research. The authors say this shows that even “relatively short” lockdowns, such as this one which had 30–40 days of home learning, can significantly affect the learning of students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds.
