ADHD medication may help reduce the risk of suicidal behaviour among patients with borderline personality disorder, according to an international study that compared the effectiveness of a range of drug treatments for the condition. The study found that all other drug therapies, including antidepressants, antipsychotics, or mood stabilisers, showed no benefit for suicide risk in people with borderline personality disorder, and one drug group, benzodiazepines, actually increase the suicide risk.
