Since he was first spotted in 1991, all-white humpback whale Migaloo has been spotted almost every year travelling up and down the east coast of Australia. Australian researchers have collected data on every sighting of Migaloo over the past 30 years, from anecdotal sightings to video proof, to show how scientists and members of the public have worked together all this time to keep track of this unique whale. Migaloo has not been spotted since 2020, but the researchers say this gap between sightings is not unusual and efforts will continue to try and find him again.
